Payroll Processors

Gusto

Connecting your Gusto account to Kick enables seamless and automated payroll tracking eliminating the need for manual data entry and ensuring accurate categorization of payroll expenses.

Once connected, Gusto syncs with Kick to pull in transaction-level detail for each payroll run. This includes gross wages, employee and employer taxes, benefits, and contributions - automatically broken out and categorized by Kick into the correct payroll sub-categories.

This detailed view not only simplifies payroll reconciliation, but also gives you a clearer understanding of your payroll costs over time.

Connecting Gusto

Connect your Gusto account using our direct integration. You’ll add your Gusto account the same way you’ll connect any new account.

→ Jump to Add a New Account

What to Expect After Connecting

Once your Gusto account is connected, Kick will automatically start pulling in your payroll activity:

  • Historical payroll data for the most current payroll run will sync in automatically

  • Future payroll runs will sync shortly after they’re processed in Gusto

  • You can set up Rules in Kick to fine-tune any categorization if needed

How to Categorize Payroll + Record Payroll Transfers

Kick automatically splits each payroll transaction into its appropriate components based on the detail pulled from Gusto:

  • Gross Wages → categorized to Salaries & Wages

  • Employee Taxes → categorized to Salaries & Wages

  • Employer Taxes → categorized to Payroll Taxes

  • Contractor Payments → categorized to Contractors

  • Benefits & Contributions → mapped to appropriate Benefits categories (e.g., Retirement)

If your business checking account is connected in Kick, any Gusto payroll transfers from that account to fund your payroll will be automatically matched with the Gusto payroll record, keeping everything clean and in sync.

What if my payroll processor is not Gusto?
